<fnc>+F4 monitor cycling not working
Compaq Armada m700. I can't seem to get the function f4 key to cycle through the monitor settings. It's supposed to be LCD -> LCD/CRT -> CRT. When I hit the combo, the screen flickers, but nothing changes.
Also, on a related note, I get nothing out of the monitor port unless the CRT is plugged in when I start the computer. If it's already on, and I plug in the CRT I get nothing. Even if I hit the combo keys.
Also, the CRT output turns off when I close the lid to the laptop. I want it to stay on but turn off the LCD.
Any suggestions. I'm running Mandrake 10.0.

I have discovered that if I am in text mode, it works. However, as soon as I start my X server, it won't work. This leads me to believe that it's somehow related to the X server.
I've tried adding a second screen in X config file, but I get an error that it's not found and it won't start X at all.
Anyone??
