I tried this usb dongle on an eeePc and it worked without installing any extra drivers.
Plug it and go to the network settings. It should appear there. If it doesn't, try the instructions mhanan posted.

It uses Linux - Linpus Lite!
There no update for the system or easy way? I will admit that using the editor etc sounds rather tough for me

try using Vodafone Mobile Connect (it works with all ISP's not just vodafone).
