cant find bluetooth
I am not a linux savvy person. i purchased my laptop with bluetooth feature.but i cant fint it anywher in the laptop.the laptop dosnt show bluetooth device symbol anywher not in the desktop or in the taskbars or in the systembbar.
how can i find it.

Open Terminal and execute hcitool scan command.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

?! At first poste the output of lspci and lsusb... lets see if we find a bluetooth adapter...
In my Toshiba Notebook, Bluetooth is integrated to acpi, need to configure the kernel with ominbook source...so tell me what book, and the output, and maybe my solution is one for u too

Hcitool scan command shows "no device found"
bt in GUI mode i started the bluetooth services
i mean --system-administrator--services..................then i found bluetooth ....i made it on.....still
didnt find bluetooth.........actually i want to connect my laptop wid another bluetooth device

Again : Post output of lspci and lsusb... tell me Ur Notebook or adapter...

Check if there is any switch in your Laptop to switch on/off bluetooth devices. Bluetooth device must be on before executing hcitool scan command.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

if its an acpi Controlled Bluetooth like many modern Notebook adapters, there would not be any reactions, than its controlled by ACPI and has to be activatet by omnibook modules, 5 min of work and one restart...
likely in toshiba and hp notebooks....
But its no joke, check the Switches, friend of mine formated his system because of an lack of wlan...finding out, it works, after i pushed "wlan " switch
