Which version of Linux are you using?
What is the output of this
    Code:
    hcitool scan
    ?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

?! At first poste the output of lspci and lsusb... lets see if we find a bluetooth adapter...

In my Toshiba Notebook, Bluetooth is integrated to acpi, need to configure the kernel with ominbook source...so tell me what book, and the output, and maybe my solution is one for u too

Check if there is any switch in your Laptop to switch on/off bluetooth devices. Bluetooth device must be on before executing hcitool scan command.

if its an acpi Controlled Bluetooth like many modern Notebook adapters, there would not be any reactions, than its controlled by ACPI and has to be activatet by omnibook modules, 5 min of work and one restart...

likely in toshiba and hp notebooks....

But its no joke, check the Switches, friend of mine formated his system because of an lack of wlan...finding out, it works, after i pushed "wlan " switch
