I agree with all the previous suggestions. This is fairly old kit that you have there, so your options are kinda limited. I'd have to give a nod to either Zenwalk or AntiX though...
You might be able to get a Debian system installed is you start with a minimal installation. Would take some elbow grease, though.
Even then I think you'd be better off with one of the others.Jay

Check out Xubuntu 9.04. It'll run a little slower than our other suggestions, but give you a more "standard", I guess, desktop experience.
