I am sorry, but I can't run lspci while the pcmcia card is in the slot. The compter freezes (can't move mouse pointer, doesn't respond to keyboard strokes). That is why you don't see anything in my output regarding the pcmcia modem.
What about the internal mwave modem for which ibm released opensource drivers?

Does it freeze if you boot into just the console, no GUI?
