reed....the last command "dmesg" gave out a long output and the file size is too big to be attached as one...so I have split up as dmesg1 and dmesg2. I hope it wont be much trouble for u.........
- 09-06-2009 #15Yeah, I'm an idiot and forgot you don't have any connection at all.su -l root update-pciids
curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host 'pciids.sourceforge.net'
update-pciids: download failed
It looks like your wired card is a Broadcom BCM5784M and your wireless is a Intel Pro 5100.
What version of CentOS are you running? Can you post uname -r as well.
I'm not too familiar with Red Hat systems, but I'll look around and see if I can find anything on getting these to work.
Also, you should enclose the output of dmesg and other commands in code tags.

Wireless - this shouldn't be difficult to get working if you're using the latest version of CentOS. I'm not sure that you are, though, since I didn't see the driver loading. I would recommend upgrading if you are not.

Wired connection - again, if you aren't using the latest version, and upgrade might fix this. If necessary, you can download and build the driver yourself.

sorry to bother you again reed,,,,but the driver you gave me the link to....it seems it has some problems.....
First of all.....when I untar the tar file....the "src" folder is not present..so I cant use the "make" command.
So I tried installing the source rpm but that too didnt work.....I followed the instructions word by word...but I couldnt install the driver.......
Any method to work around???????
Thanx

Thanx a million...reed.....if not for u...I wouldnt have experimented with my laptop......
