Ubuntu update on Dell Mini 9 problem

I allowed my Dell to upgrade to Karmic. Everything was fine until the re-start. It goes straight through to the password page and the touch pad has been disconnected. I have no idea how to control things with the keyboard alone. How do I go about re-activating the touchpad with the keyboard alone?

start with the simple is there a fn key combination or button to toggle the touchpad on and off? Try that first, if not you may want to get a mouse to help you while you try to fix your touchpad. There is a website dedicated to the Dell mini's ubuntumini.com/ this may be a good resource to start.
