Anyway I have the Sony Vaio VGN-NR31J.

Memory 2GB/Go DDR2 SDRAM
HDD 250 GB/Go
WLAN 802.11 a/b/g (Prob b getting N adapters)

Can anyone give me advice n what Linux system to get. I mainly download and play online games and ocassionaly listen to music when playing my drums.
Many thanks and much appreciated.

Any major Linux distribution will work on that laptop. Your graphics card is well-supported and you have plenty of RAM. Take your pick. For a list of the most popular ones, I recommend the Top Ten list at DistroWatch. Also, take the "Which Distro?" quiz in our welcome thread:

With your hardware it's more a matter of personal preference than hardware capability. Try several, they're all free, and see which one grabs you. Happy hunting. If you have any trouble please don't hesitate to start a thread in the appropriate section of the forum and we'll do our best to help you out.Registered Linux user #270181
