I have an ACPI supported laptop, with RH8 using apm (i think that's what it uses).

I am trying to activate a lid close event feature for my laptop. Close the lid, power down. Open the lid, power up.

I have been unsuccesful locating any good documentation and howto's on this matter. Is it possible to do? One link I read said it would be a waste of time trying to accomplish this with apm, and that my kernel version is not supported. So I am looking at upgrading the kernel.

Can anyone supply good links on getting this feature to work on my laptop? All I seem to find are posts with half eaten instructions.
