    How do I set my laptop to "stanby"?


    I run the 2.6 kernal under slackware 10.0. How do I set the system to standby (both the trickle-from-the-battery-almost-off, and the write-RAM-to-disk-off)?

    look into /proc/acpi/sleep and acpi states.

    No effect when I run sleep 0. ./sleep 0 denies permission (to wheel and root).
