help installing RH 9 on a Compaq Laptop!
Hey all,
I installed RH linux on my laptop a few months ago and never managed to get it working.
I have Windows XP and I wanted to get it to dual boot linux and windows.
I made an EXT2 partition before NTFS
and then all the other partitions for linux after NTFS
I put the /boot i believe in the ext2 partition before the NTFS
I was instructed to use the windows bootloader to boot a linux image that I made with lilo i think. Anyways when I try to boot the linux.bin with the windows bootloader it just freezes...
what can I do?

Why not just install Windblows, on one partition, and then boot from the RH9 cd, and installing it on the ext2 partition, by putting boot from cd as the first option in the BIOS?

Both Grub and lilo, the standard boot loaders for Linux, can boot windows. The Windows boot loader won't boot anything but Windows. I'd install lilo (or grub) and configure it to boot windows.

It's weird when I first looked into this
the document that I read told me to boot linux from the windows boot loader,
This is the guide that I followed and it never worked and I just gave up, but this is how I installed linux.
