    Ok. I just visited ath5k - Linux Wireless and you should not need any firmware. Also, lsmod shows that the ath5k driver is loaded. Execute the dmesg command and see if there are any error messages regarding your wireless. Also, did you enable the wireless networking in the Network Manager tool? Right-click on the network icon and see if there is an "Enable Wireless" check box.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    One last thing that I have found in the past is that if you ran Windows and turned off the wireless radio using the network icon tool, you have to re-enable it in Windows before Linux can access the radio. Apparently it diddles with some bits in the flash memory of the system and it stays disabled.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    O no - this is not good - because our Networkmaneger has removed all windows on all 24 machines ... licence !

    Yeah - not! The dmesg command dumps a lot of data. You need to do some filtering first, such as piping the output to grep. Example:

    dmesg | grep -i ath

    or

    dmesg | grep -i video


    That should reduce the output considerably.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
    Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
