    Linux on Sony Vaio S-series

    Hellow to you all!

I am considering getting my self a shiny new sony s-series laptop, and would like to know, if anyone out there is already running linux on it?

Does anyone have experience with switchable graphics and backlit keyboard? Those two are my main concerns on this one.

    Regards

    Hello and Welcome.
See this link, I think all these machines listed run some version of Linux.

You can also do a Google search for more results.
EDIT: I just noticed that link is a bit dated, you might have better luck with the Google search.

I can be found either 40 miles west of Chicago, or in a galaxy far, far away.

My wife and I have had a LOT of grief running Linux on Sony laptops. She is a PhD physicist at one of the world's top labs and does major Linux development for the world-wide particle physics community. I am a 30+ year software engineer with serious commercial experience with Windows, Unix, and Linux. Neither of us will touch a Sony system for Linux any longer...

If you are in the US or Canada, check out ZaReason, Inc.. If not, there are a LOT of other options besides Sony that will run Linux (and support ancillary hardware - which is one of Sony's biggest problems) just fine.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
