It sounds like a power management problem. In SuSE you would solve with SuSE's YaST power management module. I am unsure how to change the settings in ubuntu.

I to thought it sounded like power management. However I have all power management disabled.

At least i think i do. Im reading some stuff trying to figure this out and could it be acpi setting? If so how would i edit that or disable that?
