suse 9.3 works like a wonder on my T41!
I turned on suspend to ram and disk in yast and it works perfect using ACPI. It could start up again with everything working - even the wlan network connection.

That is, I thought this, until I found that after suspending to ram the T41 still draws current from the battery and gets a little warm under the CPU. So the battery only lasts for about 3 hours. The machine seems to suspend - everything gets silent and the moon lamp is the only one on.

With suse 9.2 this worked better, under apm, with battery lasting for some days.
