Anyone running Linux on an HP Pavilion zd8205us?

TOTAL nubie to Linux here....a friend gave me a KNOPPIX Live DVD...computer boots fine and everything looks ok but I cant get on the Internet (WiFi or Dialup) because it asks for Administrator PW,which he dosnt know....thanks

just type in root for the password, normally works

if you haven't setup the password, then it is blank i.e. just press enter without entering anything.

I really would have thought someone would have just pressed enter anyway, to see what happens, for some reason I think the guy up above is a troll...

Thanks AlexK....I have tried just hitting 'return' also and get an 'invalid PW' error....maybe the guy I got it from changed /set the PW but he dosnt remember.....also,would the disk need to be an RW to set the PW?...I am going to get a new disk,version 4.02 I believe it is.That way I can be sure no one has messed with it...

I don't think that you can save stuff if it is RW, usually to a USB drive iirc, I dont think that he would have changed the pw, maybe the download is corrupt.
