Sound problem with Compaq Presario V2000 on Linux
Hello All,
I am using Compaq Presario V2000 with OS - Linux AS 3.

My problem is that m not able to configure my sound card.
Whenever i use redhat-config-soundcard..it give me error "NO SOUND CARD IS DETECTED"
But i have Windows XP also on the same Laptop, there Sound is working Absolutely Fine
Can anyone help me

well as far as redhat i dont know but i can tell you that the soundcard in this lappie dose work in linux...im on a V2000 rite now
i use alsa and simply used 'alsaconf' typed as root in a shell to config it~Mike ~~~ Forum Rules

I have a v2000 lappy. Sound works fine in a 2.6 kernel. I haven't tried it in a 2.4 kernel. Maybe you need to upgrade your kernel to get the sound working properly.
If that's not possible, I suggest looking for an updated version of your distro.
