I suggest you try the following command, as it should output details on the manufacturer's ID (manfid) and maybe chipset manufacturer:
/sbin/cardctl ident
You can then do websearches, etc. with more info. to see if others have encountered/resolved this problem with this EXACT chipset you have.
- you also didn't mention the model number of your card. That will probably help you when doing websearches too.
Below is a pretty good cross-reference table of pcmcia card:
- they doesn't seem to be up to date for 802.11a or "multiband" (a/b/g) cards
