how to install linux
I want to install mandrake 10.0 on my laptop, and when i boot the cd it boots the screen where it says press enter to continue. Then i press enter then it does some loading things, then it says that my cdrom drive is not there. Even though i just booted from the cdrom drive. And this seems to happen no matter what distro im using. I also tried ubuntu and it did the same thing.
heres the spec of my laptop :
Acer aspire 5552
256 mb of ram
60 gig hard drive
intel centrino 1,6 GHz
matshita DVD-super multi double layer

Perhaps Ubuntu & Mandrake don't like your ATAPI cdrom driver.
Try to launch the install using this parameter :
So something like that :Code:libata.atapi_enabled=1
More info here :Code:linux libata.atapi_enabled=1
