I was to buy a new lappy
What would you suggest as the best for linux?
Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

I have a dell that works fine. http://www.linux-laptop.net/ is a good site to look at. It seems, the more new and cool it is the harder it is to get linux working.

Hi Vergil,
I know about that site but it is dated. I was wondering from real people that have had success on brand new hardware. I have actually had great success at Toshiba's with the exception of the modem and the 3 d graffics card.
I did hear recently that dell is now shipping with Linux and/or no OS.Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

as of right now you can only get a Dell with no-OS(really it comes with an OS just its free DOS instead of windows). but they have said they will offer Linux soon but i have a feeling it will be difficult to find on their site like it is now.
here it is;

took me a bit to find you have to go to the small business section to find it. you can get the open source desktops here;
