Head Phones not working
hi i'm a linux newbie and have bought a new laptop with 945gm chipset.
when i connect my headphones into the laptop no sound comes thorough the headphones.
This does not happens when i'm in windows.
How to remedy this?

try downloading and installing the latest alsa driver. This is a common problem and it is fixed in version 1.3 I think

Also, try using some different audio programs in Linux. That might help. Try getting a version of Linux with lots of audio programs. Otherwise, start using the program managers to download some media players.

Try setting the option "Autosense Headphone Jack" in kmix or gnome-volume-control. It may not have been enabled already.
