Best Thinkpad for Linux

Anyone know of a well supported Thinkpad? I have a T23 with a slowly dying LCD and I am thinking about buying a new USED thinkpad.

Only requirements are:

1) 1.0-1.5 ghz
2) 1400x1050 LCD
3) 3D hardware acceleration (the S3 SuperSavage has no hardware 3D support)

Ideas?

I have a new R50, and it is woderful. The biggest downside is the battery, which has an added cell for longer battery life, but imagine that extra cell poking out the back. It is something that takes some getting used to.
