close laptop, wont come back

Recently installed redhat fedora 3 on a dell inspiron 2200 laptop and everythign works fine except for one problem. When I close the laptop and reopen it, I can't get it to come back on. Anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like an ACPI issue. Are you loading your machine with acpi=on in the bootloader config?

forgot to mention i'm still a pretty new linux user, and this is my first day on redhat so im even more lost here. mind explaining how i could change that?

I have a similar problem on a T23 running W2000.

I end up taking the battery out to get the beast to start again.

Fire up your favorite text editor and open your /boot/grub/menu.lst file, then post the contents here and we might be able to help (although sometimes the manufacturer's ACPI implementation is simply buggy and they use special drivers to get around it with Windows-based systems).

anyone else have any input?? i really dont want to have to put another distro on here..

hmm.. is there anyway to change how the powerbutton reacts to being tapped once? a friend with a dell laptop has to push that to get his laptop to come back after closing, but when i push it linux begins its shutdown process..

Yet another small possible help.. if after reopening the laptop I ctrl+alt+delete and hit enter to end the session, the screen comes back on as it loads the login screen..

Come on.. someone? anyone? I really don't want to have to put windows back on this...
