Was that supposed to be the i686 processor?
Many distros will list their system requirements somewhere on their website but sometimes those requirements are hard to find. Otherwise, you can take a look at the linked page below to find some lightweights, some of which have system requirements listed on that page. I'm not sure how up-to-date some of the info there is, though:

I think the limited RAM will be the biggest issue to overcome. Can it be increased any? I've heard of some users going with less RAM than required or recommended by certain distros and their machines work fine, except that they might run a little slowly. Others I've heard say their machine would not boot because of the RAM shortage.
I have AntiX running on two/dos, 512MB ram laptops.

Iceweasel/Firefox Browser, 3x kernel, flash works out of the box on install. If a Pentiium 3 Processor. If doing a dist-upgrade. If flash is upgraded to 11.2 version. You need to roll back to FLASH 10.3 OR 11.1 in my experience.
I am sure other members will mention their distro of choice also.
antiX would probably do best on that computer. Or maybe Absolute, which is based on Slackware.
antiX would probably be the easier one to deal with.

Good luck with it and do let us know what you install and how it works out on your hardware. Then, hopefully your thread will help someone else that has the same or closely matching hardware.
One of the ones I posted working above is a IBM A22M. That is the one i cautioned about upgrading flash player on.Quote:

As stated, AntiX is good for a computer with those specs, also Lubuntu, Crunchbang, and SliTaz.
I'll second Crunchbang. The 64 bit version idles in about 70MB ram. Use lightweight applications and I suspect that you will be suprised at the performance.
Mind you, the same could be said for all the suggestions here.
