i am trying to format my hard drive to get rid of winxp and add linux. but here is the problem...
my laptop cannot boot from cd or usb
it has no floppy drive
and it cannot be formatted while windows is running
also i am not knowledgable enough to boot from LAN
any help would be much appreciated but otherwise i will just wait till i build my own rig. Thanks.
i sounds like it might help but i am not skilled enough to know how to use that.
or you could try the ultimate boot cd from here http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
You could try changing the boot options in your BIOS. When your laptop starts quickly press F2 (or delete or whichever key('s)) you need to access BIOS Setup.
When your in there, you will be able to change the order of your boot options. So you could set CDROM to boot before Hard Drive, that way if theres a bootable disc in your CD Drive it will boot that instead of your HDD.
To format your hdd, just insert your XP disc, run setup and select "r" to enter the recovery console then use: "format c" to format the disc. Or you can use something like Maxtors Power Max HDD Tools to Hard Format your HDD to 0's!
