Hey, I am using Fedora Core 4 on an IBM Thinkpad T43. The Graphics card is one of the ATI Mobility(im not sure which one it is can anyone tell me how to find out) ones and I installed thier drivers from ATI but im not sure if that helped any. The resolution won't go above 800x600 but i know my screen goes way above that.

Have you tried configuring X.org by yourself? Type:in a terminal and go through the steps, reading them carefully. You will want your monitor specifications with you when you do this as you will need to know things like horizontal and vertical refresh rates.Code:xorgconfig
When that is done, copy the resulting xorg.conf to /etc/X11/

1. Check out IBM site for your model: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-58315
2. You can manually edit your xorg.conf. It is located in: /etc/X11/xorg.conf use gedit or vim or nano or whatever editor you prefer. Go done to screens section and put in resolutions. I've found that improper drivers result in lack of available screen resolutions or wrong horizsync/vertsync rates for your monitor.
