Toshiba Tecra install problems

I've got an old P3 Tecra with 500MB(I think) of RAM. It used to run Windows 98, but was formatted some time ago. So, naturally, I decided to install Linux on it.

So, in I slot a MEPIS install CD. Startup. Hmm.

It gives me this message:

This message, even when I press a key, repeats. Does anyone know what's happening?

How did you burn Mepis to CD? As an ISO image or did you drag the file to the disc?

It was from the Linux Format magazine MEPIS Special.

I don't think this is from the CDROM:

Do you have the CDROM set to boot first, in the BIOS of your machine?

Yes, it is.

Which issue of Linux Format was it? Occasionally the discs aren't bootable but instead include the files as .iso to be burned.

I think your hard drive is bad.
