I upgraded to 2.0 Freespire. I have access to all the partitions on my computer, except the partition Freespire is on, hda6. I tried to mount it with the mount command "mount /dev/hda6" but it shows it can't find it in the fstab file. Is there anything I can do to access this partition?

Post the contents of /etc/fstab file and output of 'fdisk -l' command.

If Freespire is installed in hda6 partition, then its mounted as / (root) already abd you dont have to mount it again.

Partition table entries are not in disk order

I can't get into the fstab file. I can't access the file system and the text editors can't locate it when I try the edit path.

I'll see if I can get to it from Ubuntu on the same computer.

I came up with the contents through Ubuntu, saved to desktop with Abiword. The Ubuntu partition files I can access through Freespire.

I think i didn't understand your problem. Isn't Freespire booting up? Are you executing commands in FreeSpire's Terminal?

EDIT: Everything seems correct in /etc/fstab file. Post the contents of /boot/grub/menu.normal file. I am not sure about exact file name. Look for file other than menu.lst in /boot/grub folder of FreeSpire.

Sorry, I've given a poor description.

Everything in Freespire works fine-except I can't get to the system files. In the file manager I have all the other partitions listed and I can access the files on those. The only one missing is the partition Freespire in on - hda6. When I try to use the text editors to open those files (only as a means to find them) the search comes up empty.

Files like "My documents" are there as well as Desktop. The manual (tutorial) shows the partition should be listed which would give access to system files.

Normally I would have gotten to the fstab file by opening the hda6 icon, then etc/fstab. I don't have the hda6 or a substitute anywhere. It's like not having the partition mounted.

I have reinstalled Freespire without the upgrade, and I have found the system files I was looking for.

They are in "Often Used Folders" in My Computer. Then Top level Hardrive.
