XMMS works for root but not for user-- replaced with Audacious
To install XMMS, I added its repository to sources.list and used apt. Yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times, resulting in same problem. Anyway, it's OK now as I uninstalled XMMS and installed Audacious and now I'm a happy listener. Thanks.
