Malware/spyware scan & removal software

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is any malware/spyware scan and removal software that I can run in Linux please.

I want to be able to scan a hard drive with Windows installed that is suspected of being full of malware/spyware and viruses in a safe environment. When I try the scan on another windows PC that Pc seems to get infected too.

Is it also possible to create a bootable USB Pen with knoppix or something similar on and run the scan from that using the existing hardware of the infected PC.

Hope this makes sense

John

I use ClamAV to do that. I plug the Windows disc into a USB enclosure, mount it in Linux, and then scan the drive with ClamAV. There are other, possibly better, Linux scanners, but ClamAV has generally worked ok for me.
