Please help: X-Server (xorg) won't start any more

Hey there...

I'm just register here hoping that someone can help me to get my xorg back to work. Xorg just works since years but suddenly it won't do the job since today morning. I have no clue why it sops working. I did nothing on this machine the last few days.. however, X won't start any more

symptoms: I type startx, the screen becomes black (like normal) and comes back to console with the following output [1].

You can have a look at my Xorg.log file here [2] and the strace of startx here [3].

I have a flatpanel from Iiyama and a nvidia graphic card. Both just works fine since months on this machine - until this morning.
Windows boots as normal *breath*

I really hope, that someone can help me to find the problem.. It's my workplace so I need it for my diploma

Thanks for any help!

Regards,
Martin

Your xorg.log file is unreadable as there's no end of lines there. Least that's how it looks when I open it.

Can you post the relevant lines preceded by (WW) and (EE)?

Try running Xorgconfig from the command line, or xorgcfg, so see what happens then?

hmm... it works again... But I don't know why...
what I did is to re-indexing the fonts, change my graphic-card and to plug my monitor via analog instead of DVI.

Now it works again. Really strange thing... Maybe because of the fonts re-indexing.. dont know
