| Graphical screen logs out right after logging in Hello,
I'm having a problem where when we log in to the graphical screen it logs in and the background loads and the desktop icons load, but then it kicks back out to the login screen again.
I checked the .xsession-errors for the user that logged in and this is what it says: Code: who: Warning: the meaning of '-l' will change in a future release to conform to
POSIX
stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device
stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device
IceWM: using /home/zlink/.icewm for private configuration files
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).^M
Communication between daemon and interface manager has broken down.
Gdk-ERROR **: X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).^M
Communication between daemon and interface manager has broken down. I've tried googling all these errors without finding anything.
I'm able to log in as other users, so it sounds like it might just be something with a setting or some user specific config.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks. |

| 2 things:
1) what window manager are you using? Is it icewm?
2) did you run the command I gave you exactly with the "|" and everything after. Because it doesn't appear that way.

| Yep, IceWM is correct.
I don't have an Xorg.0.log, only an XFree86.0.log, which is what I gave using the command you gave me. Should I be using something other than: Code: cat /var/log/XFree86.0.log | grep -i EE After comparing the XFree86.0.log between a working system and the trouble system I've found the following is different between the two: Code: *(WW) (1280x1024,Monitor0) mode clock 108MHz exceeds DDC maximum 80MHz
(WW) (1280x1024,Monitor0) mode clock 135MHz exceeds DDC maximum 80MHz
