Geometry of (Autostarted) Applications

Hello all,

I am running a debian distribution with xfce 4. I'm trying to get Emacs and a terminal to autostart:
First I did it through the interactive menu.
Then I added to
Gnome\ Terminal.desktop exec's command -geometry+0+0
Emacs.desktop's exec: -geometry-0+0.

So Emacs loads (more or less) properly, but the terminal insists on loading at the bottom left. Is there any way to change this?
The problem repeats itself with regularly started apps too.

Another thing: Emacs doesn't load all the way at the right but a bit left-shifted. I think this is because I'm using a widescreen (Samsung SyncMaster 931bw). Can this be changed?

Thanks a million!
