KDE 2.2.1 panel doesn´t load

When loading KDE 2.2.1 the panel often doesn't load. Or it can hide(crash?) while attempting to change its parameters. Please help.

I had that problem with kde 2.X as well and I could not figure it out. I switched to gnome and lived happily ever after.

No, the panel at the bottom of the screen (by default) with buttons, desktop manager, applets

i have had it hide after making a change, or take a really long time to show back up - but it does this when you start KDE? -- have you checked the log file for any errors? perhaps it is doing somethign wrong, and after awhile of trying is falling back on a defautl configuration
