using fluxbox configuration app

how do i set up the fluxconf, fluxmenu, and whatever else so i can make my fluxbox gui look cool, because i get to one of them that doesn't let me do anything, so basically i want to know how some people went about setting it all up using it.

Have you looked into some Flux themes?

http://www.fluxbox.org/themes.php
http://www.fluxbox.org/docbook/en/html/chap-themes.html

As far as setting up what's in the menu, the file is ~/.fluxbox/menu. If you can't figure out the syntax, the documentation is at:

I've never used fluxconf, so I'm not entirely sure...

I know that you put the themes in ~/.fluxbox/styles directory. Maybe put one there manually and try doing stuff from fluxconf?

I use fluxbox but never use any of the add-on tools because none of them really seem to do all that much. Instead, I just edit all files by hand, which is what I prefer anyway.

For those fancy styles, find one you like online and uncompress it, or edit one of the default styles to your liking, then drop it into your ~/.fluxbox/styles directory (note that you'll probably need to create the "styles" directory), then choose "user styles" from the fluxbox right-click menu.

The fluxbox faq is a good one and answers most of what you'll want to know:
