Config file corruption during KDE shutdown

Hi,

ever since Azuerus locked up during an all-nighter I have been getting intermittent config file corruptions causing hda1 to refuse to boot after fsck. It will check the volume but then gives me the 'please run manually' indication and that's where it all ends. Trying to log in as root caused a system reboot as I'm appareantly exiting the single user shell.
I use slackware and booting through CD-ROM/mounting/running fsck on all volumes solves the problem but startx - logout still causes KDEe to hang during shutdown and then it starts all over again.

I have removed Azuerus, that seemed to help as the lockups became less frequent but there seems to be something lingering still.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Marinus.
