| Starting X after installing nvidia drivers in RedHat 9 This has been bothering me for a while. I do a clean install of redhat 9 and then install the Nvidia graphics drivers. I edit the XF86Config file and change the driver to "nvidia" where I'm directed to. Well after I reboot the machine I go through the entire boot process but when X tries to start it flashes to the command prompt, the screen goes black, and the screen fills with what appears to be random characters and a red cursor in the top left corner. Now I can boot fine if I change the driver setting back to "nv" and have had the drivers working on this computer a while ago. I've tried this after running the update program and with just a clean install but both times the same thing happens. Do any of you know a way to get my machine to boot with the "nvidia" option" on?
