I am curious to see how everyone has their desktop configured.

I see you like Aqua, huh? =)
I used to have an aqua desktop, too, but then my hard drive crashed, I install RH8 and found the GTK+ Bluecurve theme quite nice, and figured that aqua things wouldn't go with it, so I'm just using some pretty default themes here and there.
I've never considered esthetics a primary design goal of my system, anyway, so it didn't matter that much to me. I've always prioritized practicality, and so I've used sawfish to bind up half my keyboard to different commands. I'm almost always using at least four workspaces (always having linuxforums on the fourth =) ). Here are two typical pictures for my first and third desktops:

As you can see, there's nothing esthetically special with them.

oh my lord, did you just post your password for irc? Maybe I just misread it. Oh well. Here are a couple of mine, I was doing some testing with gnome-themes so I have three different themes. (taken like 2 weeks apart here)

That most recent one has _huge_ icons! They take at least a percent of the screen! How can you stand that?
Anyway, you mentioned that you were doing testing for gnome, didn't you, wassy? You wouldn't have any idea what happened to the tick-a-stat applet in gnome2, or if they plan to bring it back, do you? I kind of miss it. (ok, ok, I know I can just download it, but it takes surely 5 minutes, at least)

Haha yeah that is my password. Didn't even notice it, not like anyone else can use it because it only works from my host. I did change it anyway though

tick-a-stat? I don't even remember what that did. I haven't used GNOME1 in like 8 months. (since gtk-1.3.99pre3 or something rediculously unstable like that). Also, the icons are huge, but what else am I going to do with my desktop? I don't use it for much. My text is large enough for me to read in the terminals, that is what I use mostly. My friend introduced me to a club I never knew existed, the Command Line Is The Only Real Interface Society, or CLITORIS for short. I only use GNOME2 to do the fun stuff like talk on AIM, surf the net, listen to music, etc. All my "work" is done in a terminal, that way I can access it from anywhere (putty + screen = my saviour)

Well, of course, who doesn't use a terminal for mostly anything? It is, after all, more powerful, faster, more practical and much cooler. (I know it makes me a very simple man, but I just can't help loving those chocked faces of people who haven't even heard of a UNIX shell before ) I have one good use for nautilus, though, and that's as an MP3 playlist.
I only hope that you don't mean that you use a text mode terminal, because in that case I think you're pretty stupid, since you can fit so much more into an xterm or an emacs X window (at least when you're running 1600x1200).
Now that you mention it, I do realize that I need to learn about screen, though. At home I can just have 10 xterms on one screen, so I don't need it, but I guess it could be practical when puttying from a windows computer.

Now you know I am not stupid. I have a couple of normal terminals on vt1 and stuff, but I rarely rarely use it (besides to check for compatibility and crap). But yeah, I usually just have one tgnome-terminal and like 3-8 screens going on. It makes for easy xterm switching, and if I need both of them at once I think screen actually has a way to put one on top of the other.

In truth, I didn't expect you to be that stupid. I mainly just wanted to see if you were running a text mode terminal with a good reason.
I did check out screen by the way, and well... it was a whole lot better than I had any idea of... that detachment thing kind of blew me off when I first spotted it. Let's just say I'll check it out a whole lot more.
