Hi,
I installed RedHat ES3.0 on one of my development servers, when I opened TextEditor(gedit) The background color is set as white RGB(255, 255, 255)
and foregroundolr as black(RGB(0,0,0)
But the problem is the white is not pure white like compared to my other desktops and the same with black
what could be the reason, is it because of video adapter or refresh rate

Any help is really appreciated

could be to do with your video output or monitor, it could also be something daft like your brightness is turned down on the monitor

This is the most logical answer I can think of. It's more likely a monitor setting than a graphics setting.

I have a similar problem with an older Dell monitor. As regular user, brighten it up with:
Still to dark?
...and so on until it suits you.
