start application during boot

i have compile the kernel. During boot up i need to start an application which i had devoloped. How can i do that?

This is a howto for Redhat EL4, which should be very similar to CentOS.

thank you for that.. My requirement is ..when i switch on the PC..insted of showing the login screen...an application devoloped my me must be shown...i know it is possible but how?

just execute ur program on

/erc/rc.local #script

this will be displayed during booting messages
