Error in building kernel

Hi,

I am trying to build kernel for i.MX board (I have to port gxlinux onto the board).

But I am having problems while building .

when i try:

Code:
:~/gxlinux/linux$ make ARM=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux- zImage
I get the following error:

Code:
scripts/kconfig/conf -s arch/i386/Kconfig
file drivers/net/Kconfig already scanned?
make[2]: *** [silentoldconfig] Error 1
make[1]: *** [silentoldconfig] Error 2
make: *** [include/linux/autoconf.h] Error 2
Being a newbie to kernel compiling, I have no clue what to do next.
Please help me with this.

It's an embedded Linux development platform, but that's about all I know about it.

Well I know embedded means that it's basically embedded onto a chip and can be used on very small devices like cell phones, GPS devices and a lot more.
A development platform is probably just software that people use to program for different platforms. (I'm guessing here)
