Zelmo Linux Engineer Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Riverton, UT, USA Posts: 1,001	Is it actually under development? Last I heard, there was no 2.7 kernel (which would be the development version that eventually becomes the stable 2.8), and none was planned. The only references I can find are from around last April/May, but I'm sure I heard something earlier this year about SCO demanding that Torvalds hand over all material related to the 2.7 kernel, and Torvalds replied that there was nothing to hand over. The current MO for kernel development is to make incremental changes and periodically release a new 2.6 kernel when they feel like the new material is release-ready. They plan on keeping with that scheme until something happens that requires a fundamental change in how the kernel works. __________________ Stand up and be counted as a Linux user!

daark.child Trusted Penguin Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: South Yorks, UK Posts: 4,105	2.8 is not in development and won't be for sometime. There is no 2.7 development kernel tree at kernel.org and most improvements seem to be focusing on 2.6.
