question about making my own netbook distro

hey i am a bit of a newb for linux. i've been using it for 3 years now and have tried a large amount of distros however. so i have some experience, but i still shy away from some of the more involved terminal operations. anyways back to the point... i was looking around and saw what gOS has done with the chrome browser in google cloud Good OS - gOS and Cloud operating systems. i wanted to know how hard it would be to construct an OS or even customize and existing one, to run in the browser and pretty much only the browser? and also, how would i go about doing this? i think it would be a fun summer project for me to attempt. anyone have any thoughts or advice? i'm not sure where to begin looking.

If you are talking about gOS, let me tell you that its nothing but Ubuntu/debian.
Its a Ubuntu spin-off. having google desktop installed X_X

This is something you can do easily using Reconstructor.
If you want a Fedora spin-off instead of ubuntu. you can use Revisor
You can also make custom Debian live CD using ibuild gnome utility.

it's not the gOS currently released. it's a version they released only with the gigabyte netbook. it runs completely out of google chrome browser and on google cloud applications.

Well i don't know if "Cloud" is based on Linux..
But as it is based on x86 processor you can go with customizing small Linux distro with lightweight window manager.
If you want to do it hard way. You can try LFS

Don't mention it, but always try googling there are more options available than just LFS
