changing IBM Thinkpad T40 BIOS bootscreen

I'm following the instructions at thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_change_the_BIOS_bootsplash_screen in order to change my BIOS boot screen.I am using the diskette method. I have created the virtual floppy and edited dosemu.conf. However, I get an error saying theres no medium to write to in the floppy drive when running 1ruj27ud.exe. So I did what it says, "echo 0 >/sys/power../randomize_va_space", but i got an error about permission denied. Then i added sudo but it still wouldn't work. So then I used vi to manually change the file but I got an error about "fsync failed". I can't use the diskette program to write /tmp/floppy.bin.

Have you tried the dd command? Also, you need to format the floppy first. See the fdformat command to do that.
