New to Linux and need help I have a netbook Asus Eee PC 701SD.
Specs say: Linux, 8G SSD, 512MB DDR2, Intel mobile CPU & Chipset, etc.
From what I've read, I need to press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to a command prompt.
I'm trying to figure out what version of Linux this Netbook has AND what the processor speed is. I was told that I need to get to the command prompt to determine this.
1. When I press Ctrl+Alt+F1, nothing happens - what am I doing wrong or what is the correct way to get to the cmd prompt?
2. Do I get this info from the cmd prompt and if so what are the commands to get this info? Please keep in mind that this is the first time ever that I've used or seen Linux so be very, very specific will all instructions.
Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help! |
