Apparently the custom version of the Dell Mini 9 does not have the visual effects tab.

I don't use compiz, but I don't think it should matter. Install fusion-icon and ccsm. Switch to compiz using fusion-icon and configure with ccsm.

Smile Anybody

I've tried that already I guess it don't work on this system. I was on the phone with Dell support and they could not help me with this problem. My question is there any other way to personalize your desktop (what program).

Thank you

Did you try doing it with
Code:
compiz --replace
It's definitely capable of running compiz. I had compiz running on mine under Arch Linux.

Have you considered upgrading from Dell's version of Ubuntu 8.04 to something like Easy Peasy or the newest Ubuntu 10.04 (though you may want to wait for the final release on the last)

EDIT: What sort of personalizations are you looking for? You can change your icons, window appearance, wallpaper, etc.

Can you post the output of lspci

And look in /etc/modprobe.d/ for a file named blacklist or blacklist.conf or some variation there and post that.

I realize I have a mini 9 and you have a mini 10. I think the 10v has the same graphics chip as the mini 9, but the regular 10 does not.
