I am a noob to linux and i havent had it that long but i installed and configured alsa, and my sound worked for a little while. Than i updated my system (Dont remember what i updated, using the update manager.) But now there is no sound at all.

And in my alsa mixer it shows headphones: muted, PCM: 100%, Front: 100%, and the rest muted such as: front mic, mic, caller i, and off-hook.

Someone please help.

try running 'alsamixer' and turning everything up. I know for instance that some faders are muted by default for SB cards in FC4. Unmute everything and crank it just to be sure. You can mute obviously unwanted things like "Line in" or "Mic". Youll know what im talking about when you see it.

Also, it would help to know what sound card you have. Use

$ lspci | grep -i audio

to find out. If you don't get anything change audio to sound or something
