New Ubuntu Hardy: display dims on startup

I have had this issue with the Beta and RC but decided to wait and see if it would get fixed in the official release. Well, it didn't.

The problem is this: I have an HP dv9500 laptop and whenever I start it up, in the middle of the boot process the screen dims to the maximum value possible, no matter if it's on battery or AC power. I have to use the shortcut keys every time i boot to get the light up again. Afterwards, the power management sets the light correctly if i plug/unplug the power cord.

I have googled this issue, but none of the solutions worked for me, which is not surprising since all fixes were in userspace, and the boot process is done in rootspace.

If anyone can suggest something I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Ozzi
