A router infront of a router?

I feel like this is the stupid question I've ever asked anyone.

Anyways, I have a router for the house, with one line going into my room. Can I hook a second router up to that, and have multiple connections off of the line coming in from the first router?

Yes you can.

The second router will use the first router as it's default gateway.
The second router will normally create a new network segment that those attached devices will be on also.

The first router would be setup to have a route to the second routers network.

Though, this may depend on how your routers can be configured.

I have this kind of setup with two Wireless routers to setup two routable networks ... also if one Wireless connection is having interference then I will be able to switch to the second Wireless connection.

You could just use a network switch instead, it will make the networking less messy
