Well, I have good news and bad news.
The bad news is that I've never heard of Linpus Linux. From what I can tell, it's basically some Chinese or Taiwanese distro that Acer uses.
The good news is that it's not Ubuntu, and Ubuntu is far more user-friendly. Installing Ubuntu should be easy enough: you just need to download it on another computer from: Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu
Download Desktop Edition 7.04, and choose the proper architecture (probably the first option, unless you have a 64-bit computer, in which case choose the 64-bit option). This will download an ISO file. Use CD burning software to burn it to a CD (Note: do not burn as a data CD. There should be a special option for burning an ISO file).
Take this CD, and put it in the computer you want to install Ubuntu on. When the computer starts, there should be an option to access the Setup menu. Configure the computer to boot from the CD drive before the hard drive. Now, when the computer boots, it will boot from the Ubuntu CD. You can either use it right then to try it out (this is called a LiveCD, and nothing on your computer will be affected), or you can select the "Install Ubuntu" option (or something like that) to install it. The installer is very straightforward.
I hope that this helps you out. Let us know if you have any questions.
